Baby Lock Gallant Longarm Quilting Machine with Villa Frame

The Baby Lock Gallant with Villa Frame is a complete longarm setup for quilters who are done pushing big quilts through a home machine. The quilt stays stretched on the 8-foot frame while you guide the 15-inch Gallant over it, and built-in stitch regulation keeps your stitches even at up to 1,800 stitches per minute.

Built for frame quilting
- Your quilt stays put. The 8-foot Villa frame holds the backing, batting and top on ratcheted poles, so you move the machine instead of wrestling the quilt.
- Two stitch-regulation modes. Precision mode stitches only when the machine moves. Cruise mode keeps the needle moving at a set speed of 50 to 800 stitches per minute, even when you pause. Both hold 4 to 18 stitches per inch.
- Manual mode when you want it. Turn regulation off and set any speed up to 1,800 stitches per minute.
- Controls at your fingertips. Start/stop, needle up/down and plus/minus buttons sit on the front handlebars, next to a 1.44-inch color display.
- A frame that fits your height. The legs adjust from about 26" to 36" in 2-inch steps. Baby Lock suggests 30" to 32" for quilters 5'4" to 5'8".
- Load it your way. The high loading position gives easy bobbin access. The low position makes larger rulers easier to use.
- Fewer bobbin changes. The large M-class bobbin and high-speed rotary hook hold more thread than a home machine's bobbin.
- Room to grow. Add a 2-foot extension for a 10-foot frame, a ruler base, rear handlebars and laser, or Pro-Stitcher Lite.
Is the Gallant right for you?
It's the best fit if you're finishing more quilts than you can manage on a domestic machine and you have a room where an 8-foot frame can stay set up. It also suits quilters who want stitch regulation with simple handlebar controls instead of a large touchscreen.
Good to know before you buy: the Gallant uses manual tension with no digital readout, and its small display runs from handlebar buttons. Computerized quilting, the ruler base, rear handlebars, the frame extension and casters are sold separately. The frame arrives in pieces and needs a second person for parts of the assembly, and Baby Lock suggests two people to lift the 32-pound machine onto the carriage.
- Want more throat space and computerized quilting? The Baby Lock Regalia with Kinetic Frame and Pro-Stitcher has 20 inches of workspace, 2,500 stitches per minute and a 7-inch touchscreen.
- Short on floor space? The Baby Lock Regent is a sit-down longarm with an 18-inch throat on a 36" × 31-3/4" table.
- Need a machine that pieces and quilts? The Baby Lock Jazz II has 12 inches of space and 28 stitches for everyday sewing.
Expert tip
"The Gallant has no presser foot lever to open the tension discs, so after you thread it, floss the thread up between the discs. If the thread rides on top of them, you'll get loops and nests under the quilt. Also, don't roll the quilt drum-tight on the frame. Fabric stretched too tight bounces as you quilt and can cause skipped stitches."

Frequently asked questions
Does the Baby Lock Gallant have stitch regulation?
Yes. Precision and Cruise modes hold 4 to 18 stitches per inch. In Manual mode you set the speed and your hand speed sets the stitch length.
How much room does the Gallant and Villa frame need?
Plan for an 8-foot frame, or 10 feet with the optional extension, with space to walk around both ends. You'll work from the front, and from the back if you add rear handlebars for pantographs.
Can I add computerized quilting later?
Yes. Baby Lock sells Pro-Stitcher Lite for the Gallant on the Villa frame (BLPS-LITEG-BX1) separately. It adds tablet control, a carriage and rack system and built-in designs.
Can I use rulers with the Gallant?
Yes, with the optional Gallant Ruler Base (BLGT15-RB). Baby Lock says to use only 1/4-inch-thick longarm rulers, never thin rotary-cutting rulers.
Can I quilt pantographs?
Yes. The optional rear handlebars and laser (BLGT15-RH) let you trace a printed pantograph from the back of the frame.
Can I use the Gallant on a different frame?
Baby Lock recommends using the Gallant only on frames it approves, such as its 8-foot frame. Ask us before you pair it with another frame.
