Large-hoop embroidery with built-in sewing help

• Large designs in one hooping. The Royal Hoop stitches designs up to 360 x 200 mm. The Crown and Splendid Square hoops are included too, and the optional Majestic Hoop reaches 360 x 350 mm.

• The machine sets itself up. Pick your fabric and technique in JoyOS ADVISOR, and it sets the stitch, width, length, thread tension and presser foot pressure, with tutorials on screen.

Is the Designer Sapphire 85 right for you?

Good to know before you buy: regular stitches are up to 7 mm wide, against 9 mm on the Epic models. Dual feed comes from a snap-on foot, not built-in Integrated Dual Feed. The built-in needle threader is lever-operated, not automatic, and there's no projector or laser guide. Full CREATIVATE Library access is a paid subscription.

"Use the Sensor Q-Foot for hoop embroidery; it's the foot Husqvarna Viking recommends. If thread loops build up under a dense design while you're using the R-Foot, switch to the Q-Foot or raise the embroidery pivot height in settings in small steps. On the big Royal Hoop, add the hoop clips so the fabric stays tight to the edges."

What's the difference between the Sapphire 85 and the Ruby 90?

The Ruby 90 adds 310 mm of space against 250 mm, a 10.1" screen, an automatic needle threader, 150 N of piercing power against 94 N, 817 stitches and a 360 x 260 mm hoop in the box.

Is the Designer Sapphire 85 the same as the Sapphire 930?

No. The Husqvarna Viking Sapphire 930 is a sewing-only machine. The Designer Sapphire 85 sews and embroiders.

Does the Sapphire 85 have Wi-Fi?

Yes. It connects to CREATIVATE, formerly mySewnet, for design transfer, cloud storage and updates. The free mySewMonitor app sends machine notifications to your phone.

Which hoops fit?
