This is Oreck's sole plate with wheels and edge brush, part 440007674, for the Oreck Magnesium LW1500 (Magnesium RS). The sole plate sits on the underside of the base and carries the wheels and the edge brush. Oreck's earlier part number for this plate is 83176-01. Installing it is a repair job, and our technicians do this work.

What it does

• Carries the wheels. The plate holds the base's wheels, so a cracked plate or worn wheels make the vacuum drag or tilt.
• Cleans along edges. The edge brush on this plate helps sweep debris from along baseboards toward the brush roll.
• Separate from the baseplate. Oreck's service manual removes the sole plate first, with its own two screws, before the baseplate comes off.

• This is a repair job. The sole plate comes off the base with screws as part of Oreck's service procedure for the Magnesium. Our technicians repair Oreck vacuums and do this work, and they can check the brush roll and belt while the base is open.
• Unplug first. Never work on the base with the vacuum plugged in.

"If your Magnesium suddenly feels hard to push, flip it over before you blame the motor. Hair wrapped around the wheel axles or a cracked sole plate makes the base drag. Clear the wheels first, and replace the plate if it's cracked or the edge brush is worn flat."

Will this fit my Magnesium LW100?

No. The LW100 uses sole plate 83004-01, which has wheels but no edge brush. This plate is for the LW1500.

Are 440007674 and 83176-01 the same part?

Both name Oreck's sole plate with wheels and edge brush for the LW1500. 83176-01 is the number on Oreck's Magnesium parts list, and 440007674 is the number Oreck sells the plate under today.

Can I install it myself?
