Room, power and guidance for big projects

• Space for quilts and bulky work. 310 mm to the right of the needle and 140 mm of height leave room for a rolled quilt or a coat.
• Large designs in one hooping. The included Imperial Hoop stitches up to 360 x 260 mm (about 14" x 10"), with Crown and Splendid Square hoops for smaller work. The optional Majestic Hoop reaches 360 x 350 mm.
• Power for thick layers. 150 N of pulsating needle piercing power helps the needle through heavy fabrics, and Sensor Foot Pressure adjusts to the fabric thickness as you sew.
• The presser foot moves for you. Sensor Foot Lift rises to pivot height when the needle stops down, and its extra-lift position drops the feed teeth so thick quilts slide under.
• Setup help on a big screen. Pick your fabric and technique in JoyOS ADVISOR on the 10.1" touch screen, and the machine sets the stitch, width, length, thread tension and presser foot pressure.
• Fewer interruptions. Larger bobbins than earlier Ruby models, a separate bobbin-winding motor and a telescopic stand for large thread spools.

Is the Designer Ruby 90 right for you?

It's the best fit if you sew big projects and embroider large designs, and want 12 inches of space and a 10.1" screen without moving up to an Epic.

Good to know before you buy: regular stitches are up to 7 mm wide, against 9 mm on the Epic models. Dual feed comes from the included snap-on foot, not built-in Integrated Dual Feed. There's no projector or laser guide. The Ribbon Embroidery Attachment, Majestic Hoop and full CREATIVATE Library access (a subscription) cost extra.

Expert tip

"The automatic needle threader needs the thread to suit the needle. Push the needle all the way up, check it isn't bent, and follow the thread and needle chart in the user's guide, because a heavy thread in a fine needle can damage the threader. Metallic and monofilament threads sometimes won't catch, so thread those by hand."
