The Pfaff Ambition 620 is a computerized sewing and quilting machine for sewists who want a roomy work area and time-saving automation. It pairs 7.9 inches of space to the right of the needle and Pfaff's Original IDT dual feed with automatic thread snips, electronic thread tension, 136 stitches and two lettering fonts.
Why buy from Imagine Sewing & Vacuum
- Authorized Pfaff dealer. Pfaff only honors warranties on machines bought from authorized dealers, so your Ambition 620 is covered by Pfaff's 10-year limited warranty.
- Sewing specialists since 1922. We've helped sewists and quilters choose the right machine for more than a century.
- Factory-trained technicians. The people who service Pfaff machines can help with IDT, tension settings and stitch sequencing questions, before and after you buy.
- Free shipping on orders over $299. This machine qualifies.
Space, even feeding and automatic finishing
- Room for bigger quilts. 7.9 inches (200 mm) from the needle to the tower leaves space to roll a quilt or turn a bulky project.
- No shifting layers. The Original IDT system feeds fabric from the top and bottom together, so quilt sandwiches, stripes and slippery fabrics stay aligned.
- Thread snips. One button cuts the top and bobbin threads, pulls the tails to the back of the fabric and raises the needle. Press it while sewing and the machine cuts when the stitch finishes.
- Tension that sets itself. The 620 electronically sets the thread tension for each stitch you choose. Fine-tune it in the settings menu when a thread or batting needs it.
- 136 stitches and lettering. Utility, quilt, needle art, satin and decorative stitches up to 7 mm, plus two fonts with upper- and lowercase letters for labels and names.
- Your own combinations. Sequence up to 60 stitches and letters, save personal stitches and sequences, and mirror them side to side or end to end.
- Clear 3" × 2" screen. The LCD shows each stitch and its settings, and the info button gives you the recommended foot, needle and IDT setting.
- Speed under control. Use the speed slider and Start/Stop button for long quilting lines, up to 800 stitches per minute, with 29 needle positions for precise seams.
Is the Ambition 620 right for you?
It's the best fit if you quilt and sew garments at home and want thread snips, automatic tension and lettering in a machine with a large work area and IDT.
Good to know before you buy: you lower the feed dogs with a switch at the back of the free arm. The free-motion foot and a 1/4" quilting foot aren't included, and the screen is a monochrome LCD with button controls, not a color touchscreen. The 620 sews; it doesn't embroider with a hoop.
- Happy to cut threads and set tension yourself? The Pfaff Ambition 610 has the same space and IDT with 110 stitches, a manual cutter and a tension dial.
- Want more stitches and quilting feet included? The Pfaff Quilt Ambition 635 adds a 4.3" screen and 201 stitches and includes a free-motion foot and a 1/4" quilting foot.
- Need a machine you can carry? The Pfaff Passport 3.0 has IDT and thread snips at 14.7 pounds, with 5.7 inches of space.
Expert tip
"The 620 picks a tension for each stitch, and any change you make lasts only until you select a different stitch. So if you lower the tension for a decorative thread, check it again after switching stitches. For free-motion quilting, disengage IDT, lower the feed dogs at the back of the free arm and attach an open-toe free-motion foot. Practice on a scrap sandwich of the same fabric and batting first."

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the Pfaff Ambition 620 and 610?
They share IDT, 7.9 inches of space, a speed slider and 29 needle positions. The 620 adds thread snips, electronic tension, two fonts, stitch sequencing and a larger 3" × 2" screen, and has 136 stitches to the 610's 110.
Ambition 620 or Quilt Ambition 635?
Both have IDT, thread snips, automatic tension, lettering and the same 7.9-inch space. The 635 adds a 4.3" screen and 201 stitches, and it includes a free-motion foot and a 1/4" quilting foot with IDT.
Can the Ambition 620 sew letters and names?
Yes. It has two sewing fonts with upper- and lowercase letters. Combine letters and stitches into a sequence of up to 60, then save it to sew again.
Is the Ambition 620 good for free-motion quilting?
Yes, with the optional open-toe free-motion foot. Lower the feed dogs, disengage IDT and guide the quilt by hand. Stitch length depends on how fast you move the fabric, so keep a steady pace.
Does the 620 adjust thread tension automatically?
Yes. It presets a tension for every stitch. You can change it in the settings menu, and the change applies to that stitch until you select another one.
