The Pfaff Passport 3.0 is a portable computerized sewing machine that weighs 14.7 pounds and still gives you automatic thread snips, 100 stitches and Pfaff's Original IDT dual feed. It suits sewists who travel to retreats and workshops or sew in a small space.

Why buy from Imagine Sewing & Vacuum

  • Authorized Pfaff dealer. Pfaff only honors warranties on machines bought from authorized dealers, so your Passport 3.0 is covered by Pfaff's 10-year limited warranty.
  • Sewing specialists since 1922. We've helped sewists and quilters choose the right machine for more than a century.
  • Factory-trained technicians. The people who service Pfaff machines can help with IDT, threading and tension questions, before and after you buy.
  • Free shipping on orders over $299. This machine qualifies.

A travel machine that doesn't cut corners

  • Tidy thread ends at the touch of a button. Thread snips cut the top and bobbin threads and pull the tails to the back of the fabric.
  • Layers that stay together. The Original IDT system feeds from the top and bottom at the same time, so quilt layers and stripes don't shift.
  • 100 stitches up to 7 mm. Utility and stretch stitches, four buttonholes, quilt, needle art and satin stitches, chosen by number.
  • The right foot every time. A presser foot button shows which foot to use and whether to engage IDT for the stitch you picked.
  • Steady speed, no pedal needed. Use the Start/Stop button and speed slider for long seams and buttonholes, up to 800 stitches per minute.
  • Exact stitch placement. 29 needle positions, needle up/down and programmable tie-off make topstitching and pivoting neat.
  • Packs up quickly. A carry handle, accessory tray and hard cover keep everything together.

Is the Passport 3.0 right for you?

It's the best fit if you want automatic thread cutting and IDT in a machine light enough to carry.

Good to know before you buy: the Passport 3.0 has 5.7 inches of space from the needle to the tower, so it handles small quilts better than large ones. Its display is a small numeric LED, there's no lettering, and thread tension is set by hand with a dial. The free-motion foot and an extension table are sold separately.

  • Don't need thread snips? The Pfaff Passport 2.0 has the same IDT and sewing space with 70 stitches and a manual cutter, at 13.9 pounds.
  • Quilting larger projects at home? The Pfaff Ambition 620 gives you 7.9 inches of space, thread snips, automatic tension and 136 stitches.
  • Want quilting feet in the box? The Pfaff Quilt Ambition 635 includes a free-motion foot and a 1/4" quilting foot, with 201 stitches.

Expert tip

"If the Passport 3.0 beeps and won't sew, check the bobbin winder. It won't stitch while the spindle is pushed to the right, so slide it back to the left. And leave IDT disengaged when you use the 2A fancy stitch foot or the 5B buttonhole foot, because they don't have the cut-out at the back that IDT needs."

Frequently asked questions

Passport 3.0 or Passport 2.0: which should I buy?

Choose the 3.0 for automatic thread snips and 30 more stitches. Otherwise they share IDT, 29 needle positions, 5.7 inches of space and 800 stitches per minute.

Does the Passport 3.0 have IDT?

Yes. The Original IDT system is built in behind the presser foot. With the foot raised, press it down until it engages. Use it with feet that have a cut-out at the back.

Is it good for quilting?

It handles piecing, stitch-in-the-ditch and small quilts well. For stippling, lower the feed dogs and add the optional open-toe free-motion foot.

Can I turn off the beeps?

Yes. Hold the immediate tie-off button while you turn the machine on, then use the stitch width minus button to switch the sound off.

What needles does it use?

Standard household needles, system 130/705H. The built-in threader works with sizes 70 to 120, but not with twin or wing needles.
