Settings made for your fabric, at a touch

• Start with the right settings. Pick woven or stretch, light, medium or heavy, in the SEWING ADVISOR feature. The machine sets stitch length, differential feed and tension for the selected stitch and recommends the needle.
• Everything on one screen. The color touchscreen shows your stitch, needle, cutting width, speed, stitch length, differential feed and all five tensions. Adjust them with the included stylus.
• Help built in. The Info system shows the threading paths for each stitch, how to set up the machine and which fabrics suit it. The screen works in several languages.
• Push-button looper threading. Insert the thread end and press the threading button. Air carries it through the upper, lower or chain/cover stitch looper.
• Cover stitch, chain stitch and safety stitches. Sew triple and wide or narrow double cover stitch for knit hems, chain stitch, and 4- and 5-thread safety stitches for strong seams.
• Speed you choose. Five speed settings cap the top speed, which is handy on curves and while you learn cover stitch.
• Room and support. You get about 2.5 by 4.8 inches of space to the right of the needle, a free arm, a knee lifter, five LED lights and a 12-inch extension table with a pivot pin for sewing circles.

Is the Amber Air S600 right for you?

It's the best fit if you sew a lot of knits and activewear and want the machine to set itself up for each fabric instead of looking settings up in a chart.

Good to know before you buy: air threading covers the three loopers only; you thread the needles with the included handheld needle threader. Converting to cover stitch still takes manual steps, including changing needles, deactivating the upper looper and swapping in Coverstitch Table B. Only the standard presser foot is included.

Expert tip

"Set the fabric in the SEWING ADVISOR before you touch anything else, then fine-tune. Your changes only last until you pick another stitch or switch the machine off, so when a setting works, save it to one of the 30 memories with a name like 'jersey hem'. When you air-thread, pull out about 22 inches of thread and push at least 1 inch into the looper hole with the tweezers, or it may not make it to the looper tip."

What's the difference between the Amber Air S600 and the S500?

Both are 5-thread coverlock machines with push-button air-threaded loopers. The S600 adds the color touchscreen, the SEWING ADVISOR feature, electronic tension for each thread, 30 stitch memories, five speed settings and 26 stitches. The S500 has 23 stitches, a stitch selection dial and a full or half speed switch.

Is the S600 a serger or a cover stitch machine?

Both. It trims and overlocks like a serger, and it sews cover stitch and chain stitch after you swap in Coverstitch Table B.

Does the S600 thread the needles automatically?

No. Air threading covers the loopers. You thread the needles with the included handheld needle threader.
