The Baby Lock Triumph is an 8-thread serger and cover stitch machine that air-threads every looper and needle. RevolutionAir threads the three loopers with one button and all five needles with another, so switching from overlock to cover stitch takes far less hand threading. It offers 87 stitch combinations, including the Wave Stitch, and 5 inches of space to the right of the needle.

Why buy from Imagine Sewing & Vacuum

  • Authorized Baby Lock dealer. Only authorized retailers can issue Baby Lock warranties, so your Triumph is covered by Baby Lock's 25-year limited warranty.
  • Sewing specialists since 1922. We've helped sewists and garment makers choose the right machine for more than a century.
  • Factory-trained technicians. The people who service Baby Lock machines can help with air threading, cover stitch setup and maintenance questions, before and after you buy.
  • Free shipping on orders over $299. This machine qualifies.

Serging and cover stitch, fully air-threaded

  • Every looper threads with one button. Insert the thread end into a port and press Push to Thread Loopers. Air carries it through the upper, lower and chain loopers.
  • Every needle threads with another. Set the threader selector to chain/cover or overlock and press Push to Thread Needles.
  • 87 stitch combinations. Sew overlock, flatlock and rolled hems, chain stitch, three widths of cover stitch, and combination stitches up to 16 mm wide.
  • Wave and Reverse Wave stitches. A dedicated thread delivery unit keeps each wave even, and you can pair the Wave Stitch with chain or cover stitches for 5-, 6- and 7-thread versions.
  • Fewer tension settings. Automatic Thread Delivery balances every overlock stitch, and one dial sets the tension for all three cover needles.
  • Control at any pace. The speed control slider sets your top speed, up to 1,500 stitches per minute, and the knee lift raises the presser foot hands-free.
  • Ready for heavy fabric and binders. Six LED lights brighten the needle area, the presser foot lifts up to 6 mm, and the wide sewing table has extra attachment holes.

Is the Triumph right for you?

It's the best fit if you sew garments, activewear or swimwear often enough to want both a serger and a cover stitch machine, and you want air threading on every needle.

Good to know before you buy: switching between overlock and cover stitch still means swapping in the sewing table, lowering the upper looper and rethreading. Chain and cover stitches use the two tension dials. Only the standard presser foot is included, and the trim bin is sold separately. At 28.6 pounds, it needs a sturdy table.

  • Want serging and cover stitch for less? The Baby Lock Splendor also serges and cover stitches, with air-threaded loopers, hand-threaded needles, 60 stitch combinations and 2 inches of space.
  • Only need overlock stitches? The Baby Lock Acclaim is a 4-thread serger with RevolutionAir threading and the Wave Stitch.
  • Prefer two machines so you never convert? Pair a 4-thread serger such as the Baby Lock Victory with the Baby Lock Euphoria cover stitch machine.

Expert tip

"Overlock stitches set their own tension on the Triumph, but chain and cover stitches use two dials. Start with the needle dial at 5. On the looper dial, use 2 to 5 for chain stitch and 0 to 2 for cover stitch, then test on a scrap of the same fabric. If the machine won't start after threading, check that the threading lever is back in the serging position."

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the Baby Lock Triumph and the Splendor?

Both are 8-thread, 5-needle serger and cover stitch machines with a knee lifter. The Triumph also air-threads its needles and adds the Wave Stitch (87 combinations), a speed slider, six LED lights and 5 inches of space. The Splendor has 60 combinations, four LED lights, 2 inches of space and an included trim bin.

Can the Triumph replace a separate cover stitch machine?

It can. It sews chain stitch and narrow, wide and triple cover stitch, and it can sew cover and overlock stitches together. The trade-off is converting between modes; if you switch constantly, a separate Euphoria may suit you better.

How is the Triumph different from the Acclaim?

Both use RevolutionAir threading and sew the Wave Stitch. The Acclaim is a 4-thread overlock serger with no cover stitch. The Triumph adds chain and cover stitches, speed control, a knee lift and 5 inches of space.

Does the Triumph use regular sewing machine needles?

No. It uses Organ or Schmetz ELx705CF serger needles, a semi-ballpoint design for knits and wovens, in sizes 80/12 to 90/14.

Can I use binders with overlock stitches?

The included table holds binders for chain and cover stitching. Baby Lock's optional Overlock Table for the Triumph lets you use them with overlock stitches too.
