Riccar RPB-F Fit-All Central Vacuum Power Nozzle and Wand for 1.25-Inch Hose Handles

The Riccar RPB-F Fit-All Power Nozzle is a full-size power nozzle with a metal telescopic wand for central vacuum systems. Riccar says it fits any central vacuum system with a standard 1.25-inch hose handle, so it can replace a worn or broken power nozzle on most brands of central vac. It has six carpet height settings, a headlight and a brushroll jam indicator.

Check your hose first. Measure the hose handle where it slides into the wand: it must be 1.25 inches across. The nozzle runs on power from your hose. You turn it on and off with the switch on the hose handle, and on a hose with a power cord, that cord must be plugged into an outlet. If your hose handle has no on/off switch, send us your system's brand and model before you order.

What it does

• Six carpet heights. A pedal steps through XHI, HI, Auto, MED, LO and XLO, and a window on top shows the setting. Riccar recommends Auto for standard carpet and bare floors.
• Jam protection. If a sock or rug corner stops the brushroll, a circuit breaker cuts power and the warning light turns from green to red.
• Built to last. Riccar lists a chrome brushroll, replaceable brushstrips and a metal baseplate.
• Headlight and telescopic wand. The metal wand adjusts to your height, or comes off so you can use your tools.

How to install it

• Attach the wand. Push the wand into the nozzle neck until the button clicks and locks.
• Route the cord. Starting at the guide on the nozzle neck, thread the power cord through the guides on the back of the wand. Push the plug into the holder at the top of the wand. This is easier with the wand fully extended.
• Connect the hose. Plug the hose into a wall inlet, then push the hose handle into the top of the wand.
• Start cleaning. Switch on at the hose handle, press the handle release pedal on the left rear of the nozzle, and start on the Auto setting.

Riccar recommends replacing the brushstrips every other year. Before any maintenance, disconnect the hose from the wall inlet.

Expert tip

"Start every room on Auto. If the nozzle feels hard to push, go up to HI or XHI. If it glides with no effort, go lower so the brush reaches the carpet. When the light turns red, disconnect the hose, clear what's wrapped on the brushroll and press the reset switch on the back."

Will it fit my central vacuum?

Riccar says it fits any central vacuum system with a standard 1.25-inch hose handle, whatever the brand. Your hose also needs to power a nozzle, with an on/off switch on the handle.

Does it come with a hose?

No. You get the power nozzle and the telescopic wand. The Riccar RPT-1 kit includes a hose and tools.

Can I use it on hard floors?

Yes. Riccar recommends the Auto setting for tile, vinyl and wood floors.

How do I use my tools with it?

Turn the nozzle off at the hose handle, collapse the wand, unthread the cord from the guides, and pull the plug from the holder at the top of the wand. Press the wand release button to take the wand out of the nozzle, then fit your tools for baseboards and ceilings.
