Is the Bloom right for you?
It's the best fit if you want one machine for garments, quilting and mid-size embroidery, or you're stepping up from a 4" x 4" machine.
Good to know before you buy: the largest single embroidery area is 5" x 7", and the 5" x 12" hoop works in three 5" x 7" sections. The Bloom doesn't have the Vesta's automatic presser foot lift, pivot function or fabric sensor. Design Database Transfer runs on Windows only, and the extension table is sold separately.

"Your Bloom comes with two bobbin cases. The one with the green-marked screw is set for sewing and for embroidery with the included 60-weight bobbin thread, so leave its screw alone. If you switch to prewound bobbins or a finer 90-weight bobbin thread, use the alternate case with no color on the screw. It runs tighter, can be adjusted, and helps keep bobbin thread from showing on top."

What's the difference between the Baby Lock Bloom and the Vesta?
The Vesta embroiders up to 6-1/4" x 10-1/4" at 850 stitches per minute and adds automatic presser foot lift, pivoting, a fabric sensor and 301 stitches. The Bloom embroiders up to 5" x 7" at 650 stitches per minute, has more built-in designs (342 versus 293) and weighs about 6 pounds less with its embroidery unit.
How does the 5" x 12" multi-position hoop work?
You hoop the fabric once and move the hoop between three positions. Each position stitches a 5" x 7" section, so long lettering or a border up to 12" needs no re-hooping.
How do I get my own designs onto the Bloom?
Send them over Wi-Fi from a Windows computer, or copy .pes, .phc or .dst files to a USB flash drive. Baby Lock lists no phone app for the Bloom, so Mac users use the USB drive.
Does the Bloom cut jump stitches?
Yes. It trims jump stitches and cuts the thread at each color change, so there's less clipping when the design is done.
Can I quilt on the Bloom?
Yes. It has drop feed, a knee lifter and an included free-motion quilting foot. Baby Lock lists the Dynamic Walking Foot Set (BLSA-WF) and a straight-stitch plate and foot (BLMAC-SS) as options.
