The Baby Lock Chorus is a computerized quilting and sewing machine for quilters who want help with accuracy. Its sensor pen lets you set stitch placement, width and a stopping point right on the fabric, and a guide beam lights your stitching line. You also get 11.25 inches of space to the right of the needle, a dual-feed foot and 771 stitches.

Why buy from Imagine Sewing & Vacuum

  • Authorized Baby Lock dealer. Only authorized retailers can issue Baby Lock warranties, so your Chorus is covered by Baby Lock's 25-year limited warranty.
  • Sewing specialists since 1922. We've helped sewists and quilters choose the right machine for more than a century.
  • Factory-trained technicians. The people who service Baby Lock machines can help with setup, sensor pen and dual-feed questions, before and after you buy.
  • Free shipping on orders over $299. This machine qualifies.

Built for accurate piecing and quilting

  • Tell the machine where to sew. Touch the sensor pen to your fabric to set needle position, stitch width and a stopping point, so placement comes from the fabric itself.
  • A line of light to follow. The guide beam shows your stitching path on the fabric, which helps keep long, continuous seams straight.
  • Room for big quilts. 11.25 inches to the right of the needle leaves space for bulky projects, and the included extension table gives the quilt a flat surface to rest on.
  • Even feeding through thick layers. The Compact Digital Dual-Feed System feeds the top layer along with the feed dogs, with 7.0 mm of clearance for high-loft batting. It works with 36 utility and decorative stitches.
  • Both hands stay on the quilt. The knee lift raises the presser foot, and the multi-function foot control's heel tap and side pedal can handle needle up/down or thread cutting.
  • Threading and trimming at a touch. The NeverMiss automatic needle threader, automatic thread cutter and automatic tension handle the routine steps.
  • 771 stitches for more than quilting. 152 utility stitches, 442 decorative stitches, 14 one-step buttonholes and 5 fonts cover piecing, garments and lettering.

Is the Chorus right for you?

It's the best fit if you piece carefully, like tools that cut down on marking, and want the extension table in the box.

Good to know before you buy: Baby Lock now lists the Chorus as a previous model. The newer Anthem adds stitch regulation. The Chorus doesn't embroider and has no stitch regulator, so free-motion stitch length depends on how you move the quilt.

  • Want regulated free-motion stitches on a current model? The Baby Lock Anthem adds StitchSync stitch regulation, a 10.1-inch touchscreen and 804 stitches, but no sensor pen.
  • Don't need the sensor pen or guide beam? The Baby Lock Ballad has the same 771 stitches, 11.25-inch space and dual-feed foot, and is still a current model. Its extension table is sold separately.
  • Want a smaller computerized machine for less? The Baby Lock Soprano has 300 stitches and 8.3 inches of space, with an extension table included.
  • Need quilting space on a tighter budget? The Baby Lock Jazz II has 12 inches of space and 28 dial-selected stitches, with no screen or automatic cutter.

Expert tip

"The Chorus doesn't regulate free-motion stitches, so even stitches come from a steady rhythm. Drop the feed dogs, attach the free-motion quilting foot, and keep the machine at a moderate, constant speed while you move the quilt at an even pace. Attach the extension table so the quilt doesn't drag, and warm up on a scrap sandwich of your project's fabric and batting."

Frequently asked questions

Is the Baby Lock Chorus discontinued?

Baby Lock lists the Chorus with its previous models. The Anthem is its newer quilting and sewing machine with the same 11.25-inch space.

What's the difference between the Chorus and the Ballad?

They share 771 stitches, 11.25 inches of space, a 7-inch touchscreen and the dual-feed foot. The Chorus adds the sensor pen and guide beam and includes the extension table. The Ballad includes a soft cover and a bobbin work case.

What's the difference between the Chorus and the Anthem?

The Anthem adds StitchSync stitch regulation, a 10.1-inch screen, stitch tapering, wireless software updates and 804 stitches. Both have a guide beam, but only the Chorus lists a sensor pen. The Anthem weighs 37.5 pounds to the Chorus's 33.9.

What does the sensor pen do?

You touch it to the fabric to tell the machine where you want the needle and stitches. It can set stitch width, placement and a stopping point.

How does the Chorus compare with the Soprano, Lyric and Jazz II?

The Soprano (300 stitches) and Lyric (250 stitches) are smaller computerized machines with 8.3 inches of space, 850 stitches per minute and a small LCD screen. The Jazz II has 12 inches of space but only 28 dial-selected stitches and a manual thread cutter.

Does the Chorus embroider?

No. It's a sewing and quilting machine. For sewing and embroidery in one machine, see the Baby Lock Aerial.
