Space and sensor help for big quilts

• Room for big quilts. 10 inches (250 mm) of space to the right of the needle and 4 inches (103 mm) of height leave room for bulk under the arm.
• Even feeding through every layer. Sensor Foot Pressure senses the thickness of the fabric and stitching and adjusts as you sew, so seams and batting feed smoothly.

Good to know before you buy: the Sapphire 930 uses a 3-inch graphic display with numbered keys, not a touchscreen. It has no side-motion stitches or straight stitch plate sensor; those belong to its sibling, the Sapphire 960Q. You lower the feed teeth with a switch, there's no knee lifter and it doesn't embroider. A 1/4" piecing foot and walking foot are sold separately.

"Leave Sensor Foot Pivot turned on when you quilt or appliqué. Stop with the needle down and the foot rises just enough to turn the quilt without losing your place. For free-motion, slide the feed teeth switch on the front of the free arm to the right, snap on Foot R and set Free Motion Floating in the SET menu. Keep the accessory box on so the quilt rests on a flat surface."
