Room, sensors and stitches for quilters

• Space for big quilts. Nearly 10 inches (250 mm) to the right of the needle and 4 inches (103 mm) of height give a rolled quilt room to move.
• A foot that works with you. Sensor Foot Lift has four positions: down, pivot, up and extra lift. Extra lift drops the feed teeth so thick quilts slide under, and the foot floats to pivot when you stop needle down.
• Even feeding. Sensor Foot Pressure senses fabric thickness and adjusts continuously, from light wovens to a quilt sandwich.
• Straighter straight stitches. The included straight stitch plate supports the fabric around the needle, and its sensor warns you if you choose a stitch that won't fit.
• Wide decorative stitches. Side-motion sewing with the included Foot S moves the fabric sideways for stitches up to 54 mm wide.
• Dimensional effects. Appliqué, pop-up and patented sequin stitches let you add fabric or sequins as you sew.

Is the Brilliance 75Q right for you?

Good to know before you buy: Husqvarna Viking no longer shows the Brilliance 75Q in its current lineup, so this is a previous model. It's a sewing and quilting machine with no embroidery unit. Regular stitches are up to 7 mm wide; the 54 mm width applies only to side-motion stitches with Foot S. There's no knee lifter, and a walking foot is sold separately.

Expert tip

"Put on the straight stitch plate for piecing and straight-line quilting. It supports the fabric right at the needle, and the machine warns you if you pick a stitch that would hit the plate. Change plates with the feed teeth lowered. Switch back to the standard plate before zigzag, decorative or side-motion work, and don't use the Clear Adjustable 1/4" Piecing Foot with the straight stitch plate."

No. It's a sewing and quilting machine; its decorative and side-motion stitches are sewn without a hoop.

What's the difference between the Brilliance 75Q and the Sapphire 930?

Both have 10 inches of space and the Exclusive Sensor System. The 75Q adds a color touchscreen, 463 stitches, side-motion stitches, a straight stitch plate with sensor and automatic feed teeth drop.

What are side-motion stitches?

The machine feeds the fabric sideways as well as forward, so one decorative stitch can be up to 54 mm wide. Use the included Foot S.

Can I free-motion quilt on the Brilliance 75Q?

Yes. Choose Free Motion Floating with the included Foot R, or Spring Action with an optional spring foot. The feed teeth lower automatically in spring-action mode.

Is the Brilliance 75Q still made?
