Why buy from Imagine Sewing & Vacuum
- Authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer. Husqvarna Viking limits its warranty to machines bought from authorized dealers, so your Onyx 30 is covered by Husqvarna Viking's 10-year limited warranty.
- Sewing specialists since 1922. We've helped sewists and quilters choose the right machine for more than a century.
- Factory-trained technicians. The people who service Husqvarna Viking machines can help with setup, stitch sequences and tension questions, before and after you buy.
- Free shipping on orders over $299. This machine qualifies.
Computerized convenience in an easy-to-learn machine
- More than 150 stitches. Utility, stretch, quilting and decorative stitches, plus block and outline fonts for names, labels and monograms.
- One-touch thread cutting. Press the button and the machine cuts both the top and bobbin threads.
- Hands on the fabric. Needle up/down stops the needle in the fabric for pivoting and appliqué, and Start/Stop sews without the foot pedal.
- Control the pace. A speed slider sets the top speed, up to 1,000 stitches per minute.
- Nine one-step buttonholes. Choose keyhole, rounded, heavy-duty or stretch styles, sized by the buttonhole slider foot.
- Program your own sequences. Combine letters and decorative stitches, up to 40 in a row, and mirror or elongate stitches for variety.
- Wider stitches. Stitch width goes to 7 mm, with 15 needle positions for topstitching and quarter-inch piecing.
Is the Onyx 30 right for you?
It's the best fit if you want your first computerized machine, or you're stepping up from a mechanical machine and want a thread cutter, lettering and more stitches in a light machine (14.4 lb).
Good to know before you buy: the needle threader is semi-automatic, so you still guide the thread. Tension is set by hand with a dial. The Onyx 30 has no Wi-Fi, embroidery, knee lift or touchscreen, and its 6.4-inch sewing area is smaller than the 8 inches on the Opal line.
- Prefer simple dials? The Husqvarna Viking Onyx 25 has 32 stitches and a one-step buttonhole.
- Want a dial machine with a speed slider and needle up/down? The Husqvarna Viking Emerald 118 has both, with 18 stitches.
- Want 8 inches of sewing space and the SEWING ADVISOR feature? The Husqvarna Viking Opal 650 has 160 stitches and three fonts.
- Want automatic tension and a touchscreen? The Husqvarna Viking Opal 670 adds both; the Husqvarna Viking Opal 690Q also adjusts the presser foot to fabric thickness.
Expert tip
"Use only the clear Class 15 bobbins made for the Onyx 30. Husqvarna Viking's guide warns against other bobbin types, and a wrong bobbin is a common cause of stitch and tension trouble. For lettering, turn on Auto Stop, then press Tie-Off as you start the last letter. The machine finishes the letter, ties off and stops, ready for the thread cutter."
