The Pfaff Admire 1000 is a 4/3/2-thread serger for finishing seams, sewing knits and adding rolled or picot edges, with 16 stitches and LED lighting. Two front covers open wide so you can reach the loopers when you thread by hand. It doesn't have air threading, despite the "air" in this page's web address.

Why buy from Imagine Sewing & Vacuum

  • Authorized Pfaff dealer. Pfaff honors its warranty only on machines bought from an authorized Pfaff dealer, so your Admire 1000 is covered by Pfaff's 5-year limited warranty.
  • Sewing specialists since 1922. We've helped sewists and garment makers choose the right machine for more than a century.
  • Factory-trained technicians. The people who service Pfaff machines can help with threading, tension and rolled-hem questions, before and after you buy.
  • Free shipping on orders over $299. This machine qualifies.

Everyday serging with room to reach

  • 16 stitches from 2, 3 or 4 threads. Sew 4-thread overlock seams, 3-thread stretch overlock, flatlock, narrow and rolled edges, and a 3-thread picot edge for sheers.
  • Open access for threading. The front cover and the working table both open, so you can see the whole looper area. Color-coded paths and lay-in tension guides show where each thread goes.
  • Straight seams. An adjustable built-in seam guide keeps the fabric edge at your chosen allowance.
  • Even seams on knits and silks. Differential feed from 0.7 to 2.0 prevents wavy knit seams and puckered fine fabrics, and gathers ruffles.
  • Trim as you sew. Set the cutting width from 4 to 7 mm. A built-in knife trims the thread chain.
  • Bright work area. An LED lamp lights the needle area.

Is the Admire 1000 right for you?

It's the best fit if you want a straightforward serger for garment seams and edge finishes and don't mind threading by hand.

Good to know before you buy: threading is manual. You thread the loopers with tweezers, and no needle threader is included. Tension uses four dials. For rolled, narrow and picot edges you remove the stitch finger with a screwdriver. It doesn't sew cover stitch or chainstitch. It uses Style 2022 serger needles, and only the standard presser foot is included. Pfaff no longer lists the Admire 1000 on its US website.

  • Want the loopers to thread themselves? The Pfaff Admire Air 5000 air-threads both loopers and adds a built-in needle threader.
  • Want the machine to set tension for you? The Pfaff Hobbylock 2.5 sets tension with its Auto Tension Dial and changes to rolled hem with a lever.
  • Like Husqvarna Viking? The Husqvarna Viking Amber Air S400 is a 15-stitch serger with air-threaded loopers.
  • Need cover stitch hems? The Husqvarna Viking Amber Air S500 coverlock serges and sews cover stitch, with 23 stitches chosen on a dial.

Expert tip

"Thread the Admire 1000 in this order: upper looper, lower looper, then the needles. When you thread the lower looper, lay its thread over the upper looper, not under it, or the machine won't sew. If the lower looper thread breaks, pull the thread out of the needle eyes first, then rethread the lower looper. That stops the threads from tangling."

Frequently asked questions

Is the Admire 1000 an air-threading serger?

No. It's the Admire 1000, which threads by hand. Pfaff's air-threading models include the Admire Air 5000 serger and the Admire Air 7000 coverlock.

What's the difference between the Admire 1000 and the Admire Air 5000?

The Admire Air 5000 air-threads both loopers with a lever and has a built-in needle threader. The Admire 1000 threads by hand and adds one stitch, for 16 in all.

Can the Admire 1000 sew a cover stitch?

No. It sews overlock, flatlock, rolled, narrow and picot edge stitches. Cover stitch hems need a coverlock or a separate cover stitch machine.

How do I sew a rolled hem?

Remove the stitch finger with the screwdriver and store it in its holder inside the front cover. Then set the needle, cutting width and tensions from the stitch chart in the manual. Put the stitch finger back for regular serging.

Does the Admire 1000 come threaded?

Yes. Pfaff ships it already threaded, so you can test-sew before you learn to rethread it.
