Neat, stretchy seams with less guesswork

• Tension set by the dial. Pick a stitch on the Auto Tension Dial and the tension is set. Four color-coded levers fine-tune each thread.
• 15 stitches from 2, 3 or 4 threads. Sew 4-thread overlock seams, stretch overlock, flatlock, narrow edges and 2-thread wrapped edges.
• Rolled hems without swapping parts. Slide the stitch finger lever to R. You don't change the presser foot or stitch plate.
• Smooth knits and flat silks. Differential feed from 0.6 to 2.0 stops knits stretching, keeps fine fabrics from puckering and gathers ruffles.
• Room for thick layers. An extra presser foot lift position helps you get several layers under the foot.
• Two speeds. A slide on the foot control limits the machine to full or half speed while you learn.

It has no air threading and doesn't sew cover stitch or chainstitch. It lights the work area with a bulb rather than LEDs, and it uses ELx705 serger needles. Only the standard presser foot is included.

Expert tip

"Your Hobbylock 2.5 arrives threaded for a 4-thread overlock. To change colors, cut each thread near its cone, tie on the new thread, raise the presser foot to open the tension discs and pull the knots through one at a time. If a looper thread breaks, unthread the needles, then thread the upper looper, the lower looper and the needles from right to left. Out of order, the loopers won't form a stitch."

Frequently asked questions

Does the Hobbylock 2.5 have air threading?

No. You thread it by hand along color-coded paths. For air-threaded loopers, look at the Pfaff Admire Air 5000.

Can it sew a cover stitch?

No. It sews 2-, 3- and 4-thread overlock, flatlock and rolled-hem stitches. Cover stitch hems need a coverlock such as the Admire Air 7000.

Hobbylock 2.5 or Admire 1000?

The Hobbylock 2.5 sets tension with its Auto Tension Dial and switches to rolled hem with a lever. The Admire 1000 adds a picot edge and LED lighting, but uses regular tension dials, and you remove its stitch finger with a screwdriver for rolled hems.

How do I sew a rolled hem?

Set the stitch finger lever to R, choose the rolled edge setting on the Auto Tension Dial and thread the right needle. Set the lever back to N for regular serging.

Is the Hobbylock 2.5 computerized?

No. It's mechanical, with dials for stitch length, cutting width, differential feed and presser foot pressure.
