The Pfaff Admire Air 5000 is a 4/3/2-thread serger for sewists who are tired of threading loopers with tweezers. Put the thread in the port, lift a lever, and air carries it through the looper. A built-in needle threader handles both needles. You get 15 stitches for knit seams, rolled hems and flatlock. It's a serger only. It doesn't sew cover stitch.

Air-threaded loopers, fewer threading headaches

• One-touch looper threading. Turn the looper selection lever, insert at least 3/4 inch (2 cm) of thread into the threading hole and raise the threader lever. Air sends the thread through the upper or lower looper in one move.
• Built-in needle threader. Set the switch to R or L and the threader pulls a loop through either needle eye, so you don't need tweezers there either.
• 15 stitches from 2, 3 or 4 threads. Sew 4-thread overlock seams, 3-thread stretch overlock, wide and narrow flatlock, picot and narrow edges, and 2-thread wrapped edges.
• Rolled hems at the flip of a switch. Set the stitch finger switch to R for a 2- or 3-thread rolled hem. You don't change the presser foot or stitch plate.
• Smooth seams on any fabric. Differential feed from 0.5 to 2.0 keeps knits from stretching and fine fabrics from puckering, and it gathers ruffles.
• Room for thick layers. The presser foot rises 5 to 7 mm, with an extra lift position for several layers or heavy fabric.
• Clear view. LED lights brighten the needle area, and lay-in tension dials let you see that each thread is seated.
• Safety built in. The machine won't sew while the front cover or flat bed extension cover is open, or while the presser foot is up.

Is the Admire Air 5000 right for you?

Good to know before you buy: air threading covers the two loopers only. You thread the needles along their paths and finish with the built-in threader. Tension is set by hand with four dials. It has no cover stitch, chainstitch, knee lift or free arm. Only the universal presser foot is included.

Expert tip

"Air threading only works if the thread can travel freely. Trim the thread end cleanly, pull about 12 inches off the cone, set the Threading/Sewing switch to Threading and push at least 3/4 inch into the hole. Every 10 hours of sewing, clean the looper threader pipes with the included threading wire or a can of compressed air. Lint in the pipe is one of the first things to check if the air threader stops working."

No. Air threading covers the upper and lower loopers. You thread each needle along its path, then use the built-in needle threader to pull the thread through the eye.

Can the Admire Air 5000 sew a cover stitch?
