Good to know before you buy: the touchscreen is monochrome, not color. You raise the presser foot with a lever, and there's no knee lifter or sensor foot lift. The Opal 670 doesn't embroider. The free-motion foot, quilting guide and multipurpose tool are sold separately for this model.

"The Opal 670 sets tension from the fabric you choose, so touch your fabric type first. If the screen still says Woven Medium while you're sewing a knit or denim, the tension and stitch won't suit it. Use only original Husqvarna Viking bobbins, as the user's guide asks, so the bobbin sensor and tension work as designed. For most sewing, use the same thread on top and in the bobbin."

What's the difference between the Opal 670 and the Opal 690Q?

Both have a touchscreen, automatic thread cutter, automatic tension, bobbin sensor and 8 inches of space. The 690Q adds the Exclusive Sensor System, which senses fabric thickness, lifts the foot with buttons and pivots for you. It also has 208 stitches, 12 memories and three extra quilting feet.

What's the difference between the Opal 670 and the Opal 650?

The 650 uses a graphic display with keys and a tension dial, and has 160 stitches and 3 fonts. The 670 adds the touchscreen, automatic tension, thread cutter, bobbin sensor, 200 stitches and a fourth font.

Can I free-motion quilt on the Opal 670?

Yes. Lower the feed teeth and choose a free-motion setting in the SET menu. The free-motion foot is sold separately for the 670.

Does the Opal 670 embroider?

No. It sews decorative stitches and lettering, but it has no embroidery unit or hoops.
