This listing is for purchase with a qualifying trade-in machine.

If you're moving up to a dedicated quilting machine, the Husqvarna Viking Epic Quilt 97 gives you a wide harp, top-and-bottom feeding and on-fabric guidelines. It comes with the same quilting accessories as every Epic Quilt 97: an extension table, a free-motion ruler foot, a quilt binder and a rotary cutting kit.

Why buy from Imagine Sewing & Vacuum

  • Authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer. Your Epic Quilt 97 carries Husqvarna Viking's 20-year limited warranty, which the brand extends to machines bought from authorized dealers.
  • Sewing specialists since 1922. We've helped sewists and quilters choose the right machine for more than a century.
  • Factory-trained technicians. The people who service Husqvarna Viking machines can help with projection, ruler foot and bobbin questions, before and after you buy.
  • Free shipping on orders over $299. This machine qualifies.

What the Epic Quilt 97 does for your quilts

  • A wide, tall harp. More than 12" (310 mm) to the right of the needle and over 5.5" (140 mm) of working height let bulky quilt sandwiches pass through without a fight.
  • Guidelines projected on the fabric. Turn on a grid or one or two guidelines, set their color, size and angle, and stitch along them. Stitch preview shows your stitch at actual size first.
  • Even feeding without a walking foot. Integrated Dual Feed moves the top layer with the feed teeth, keeping quilt layers, plaids and stripes from shifting.
  • Free motion your way. Spring, floating and ruler foot modes lower the feed teeth automatically, and you can adjust foot height for floating and ruler work.
  • Finish the binding by machine. The quilt binder and binder foot are included, with a cutting mat, rotary cutter and rulers for squaring up.
  • Thread handled for you. The deLuxe Stitch System chooses thread portioning or tension for each stitch, and the Exclusive Sensor System adjusts foot pressure to the fabric thickness.
  • Fewer bobbin changes. The large bobbin holds about 30% more thread, and bobbins wind on their own motor.

Is the Epic Quilt 97 right for you?

It's the best fit if you have a machine to trade in and want a large-harp quilting machine with dual feed, projection and the tools to cut, piece, quilt and bind.

Good to know before you buy: this machine sews and quilts but doesn't embroider. It needs its own Epic Quilt 97 bobbins, and at about 33 pounds it's happiest on a permanent sewing table. Husqvarna Viking's box list doesn't include a spring free-motion foot such as the Sensor Q-Foot.

Expert tip

"Use only the bobbins made for the Epic Quilt 97, because the manual warns against bobbins from other models. Wind specialty threads from the auxiliary spool pin at a slower speed, and fill monofilament bobbins only halfway. When you piece, switch to the straight stitch plate so the start of each seam isn't pushed down into the bobbin area."

Frequently asked questions

What does "with Qualified Trade" mean?

This listing is for buyers trading in a qualifying machine. Contact us before you order to confirm that yours qualifies.

Is this the same machine as the standard Epic Quilt 97 listing?

Yes. Same machine, same quilting accessories and the same Husqvarna Viking warranty.

How big a quilt can it handle?

Husqvarna Viking says its space can handle even king-size quilts. The included extension table supports the quilt's weight as you sew.

How does it compare with the Designer Ruby 90?

Both have a 10.1" screen, over 12 inches of space and Integrated Dual Feed. The Ruby 90 also embroiders. The Epic Quilt 97 sews only, but has 9 mm stitches instead of 7 mm and sewing projection, which isn't on the Ruby 90's spec list.

Does the projection work for every stitch?

Most stitches project in front of the needle. The manual notes that stitches sewn backward or sideways, such as buttonholes, can't be projected accurately.

Can I sew without the foot control?

Yes. Use the start/stop button and set your speed with the slider, which helps on long straight-line quilting.
