The Pfaff Quilt Ambition 635 is a computerized sewing and quilting machine for quilters who want PFAFF's Original IDT dual feed without stepping up to a large-format machine. You get 201 stitches, a color touch screen and 7.9 inches of space to the right of the needle, enough for piecing, binding and quilting lap- to twin-size quilts at home.

Why buy from Imagine Sewing & Vacuum

  • Authorized Pfaff dealer. PFAFF's US warranty applies to machines bought from authorized dealers, so your Quilt Ambition 635 is covered by PFAFF's 10/2/1-year limited warranty.
  • Sewing specialists since 1922. We've helped sewists and quilters choose the right machine for more than a century.
  • Factory-trained technicians. The people who service Pfaff machines can help with IDT, tension and free-motion questions, before and after you buy.
  • Free shipping on orders over $299. This machine qualifies.

Built for accurate piecing and quilting

  • Layers that stay lined up. The Original IDT system feeds fabric from the top and bottom at once, like a built-in walking foot, so quilt layers don't shift.
  • Room to quilt. 7.9 inches (200 mm) to the right of the needle gives a rolled quilt space to move while you stitch in the ditch or sew straight-line grids.
  • Quarter-inch seams included. The 1/4" quilting foot for the IDT system comes in the box, and 29 needle positions let you fine-tune seam allowances and topstitching.
  • Easy-to-read touch screen. The 4.3-inch color touch screen shows each stitch, its settings and the recommended foot, and builds stitch and letter sequences.
  • 201 stitches up to 7 mm wide. Utility, quilt, needle-art and satin stitches, seven buttonhole styles and two alphabets cover garments and decorative work as well as quilts.
  • Steady control. Sew with the start/stop button, cap the top speed with the slider, and set the needle to stop down so you can pivot.
  • Quick thread trims. The thread snips button cuts the top and bobbin threads, and tie-off locks the seam and stops.
  • Ready for free-motion. Lower the feed teeth with the switch at the back of the free arm and use the included embroidery/free-motion foot 6 for stippling and darning.

Is the Quilt Ambition 635 right for you?

It's the best fit if you piece and quilt regularly, want dual feed built in instead of a separate walking foot, and prefer a color touch screen to buttons and a small display.

Good to know before you buy: the 635 tops out at 800 stitches per minute and has 7.9 inches of space, so king-size quilts will feel crowded. It has no knee lift or automatic presser foot lift, the feed teeth drop with a manual switch, and it doesn't embroider.

  • Don't need a touch screen? The Pfaff Ambition 620 has the same 7.9-inch space, IDT and thread snips, with 136 stitches.
  • Want more room and speed? The Pfaff Quilt Expression 720 gives you nearly 10 inches of space, 1,050 stitches per minute, an electronic knee lift and three free-motion modes.
  • Quilting king-size quilts? The Pfaff Performance Icon has 12.2 inches of space.
  • Want to embroider too? The Pfaff Creative Ambition 640 pairs a similar 7.9-inch sewing space with a 240 x 150 mm embroidery hoop.

Expert tip

"Engage the IDT system for piecing and straight-line quilting, then disengage it and lower the feed teeth before you free-motion. If the 635 won't start, check the presser foot first: the machine won't sew while the foot is raised. For a thick quilt sandwich, push the presser foot lift to its extra-high position to slide the layers under, and slow the speed slider down at the bulky seams."

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the Pfaff Quilt Ambition 635 and the Ambition 620?

Both have the Original IDT system, 7.9 inches of space, 800 stitches per minute and thread snips. The 635 adds a 4.3-inch color touch screen, 201 stitches instead of 136, a 1/4" quilting foot and a hard cover.

Is the Quilt Ambition 635 computerized?

Yes. You choose stitches on the color touch screen, and the machine presets the tension for each one.

Does the 635 have a knee lift?

No. You raise the presser foot with the lever at the back of the machine. The Quilt Expression 720 includes an electronic knee lift.

Can the Quilt Ambition 635 embroider?

No, it's a sewing and quilting machine. For machine embroidery, look at the Creative Ambition 640 or the Pfaff Creative Expect 350.

Is this the 160th anniversary edition?

PFAFF first released the 635 as a 160th anniversary edition with five bonus presser feet. PFAFF's current US listing doesn't include that kit, and the box list above follows it. Ask us which version ships if the bonus feet matter to you.
