The Baby Lock Regent is a sit-down longarm for quilters who want 18 inches of throat space without giving a room to a frame. You guide the quilt across its height-adjustable table while Stitch Harmony stitch regulation keeps your stitches even at up to 2,200 stitches per minute.
Why buy from Imagine Sewing & Vacuum
- Authorized Baby Lock dealer. Only authorized retailers can issue Baby Lock warranties, so your Regent is covered by Baby Lock's 10-year limited warranty.

- Free shipping on orders over $299. This machine qualifies.
Longarm quilting from a chair
- Room for large quilts. The 18" × 8.25" throat leaves space for the rolled quilt to move, so you can finish big tops without a frame.
- Even stitches at your own pace. Stitch Harmony matches the needle speed to how fast you move the fabric, at 4 to 22 stitches per inch.
- Three ways to stitch. Precision mode stitches only when the fabric moves. Cruise mode holds a set speed of 50 to 1,100 stitches per minute, and Manual mode lets the foot pedal set the speed.
- A table that fits you. The included 36" × 31-3/4" table adjusts from 26.6" to 39.6" high, and its smooth surface lets the quilt glide.
- Tension you can read. Quick-Set Tension shows the top-thread setting as a number on the color touch screen.
- Fewer bobbin changes. The large M-class bobbin and high-speed rotary hook keep you quilting longer, and the low-bobbin estimator warns you before you run out.
- Precise starts and stops. The programmable needle up/down button and the foot pedal both take half or full stitches for clean tie-offs and pivots.
Is the Regent right for you?
It's the best fit if you want longarm throat space and stitch regulation but don't have room for a quilting frame, or you'd rather sit while you quilt. The table takes about the floor space of a small desk.
Good to know before you buy: Baby Lock now lists the Regent as a previous model. It's a straight-stitch quilting machine with no feed dogs, so it isn't meant for piecing or garment sewing. Baby Lock doesn't offer a frame kit or Pro-Stitcher computerized quilting for it. The table extensions, casters and needle beam are sold separately. The machine weighs 53 pounds and the table 59 pounds, so plan on two people for setup.
- Rather move the machine than the quilt? The Baby Lock Gallant with Villa Frame rides on an 8-foot frame with stitch regulation and 15 inches of workspace.
- Want computerized quilting? The Baby Lock Regalia with Kinetic Frame and Pro-Stitcher has 20 inches of workspace and stitches designs for you.
- Need one machine that pieces and quilts? The Baby Lock Jazz II has 12 inches of space and 28 stitches for everyday sewing.
Expert tip
"Stitch Harmony reads the quilt through two sensors in the table insert, so keep your hands close to the hopping foot and don't let the quilt bunch or wrinkle near the sensors. Start each session on a practice sandwich in Precision mode, where the needle only stitches when the fabric moves, and switch to Cruise once your rhythm feels steady."

Frequently asked questions
Is the Baby Lock Regent a sit-down longarm?
Yes. The machine sits in its own table and you move the quilt under the needle, as on a domestic machine, but with 18 inches of throat space.
How does Stitch Harmony stitch regulation work?
Two optical sensors in the table insert track how fast the fabric moves and tell the machine to speed up or slow down to hold your stitches-per-inch setting.
How much room does the Regent need?
The table is 36" × 31-3/4" and adjusts from 26.6" to 39.6" high. Add room for your chair and for the quilt to drape off the sides. Baby Lock's optional 18" × 30" extensions attach to the sides, and two of them make the work surface six feet wide.
Can I put the Regent on a frame or add Pro-Stitcher?
Baby Lock doesn't offer a frame kit or Pro-Stitcher for the Regent, and it recommends using its machines only on frames it approves. If you want frame quilting, look at the Gallant or Regalia packages.
What's the difference between the Regent and the Gallant?
The Regent is a sit-down machine with an 18-inch throat and 2,200 stitches per minute, and you move the quilt. The Gallant rides on an 8-foot frame with a 15-inch throat and 1,800 stitches per minute, and you move the machine.
What needles and power does it need?
It uses system 134 (135×7) needles in sizes 12/80 to 20/125. Plug it straight into a wall outlet or a surge protector, because Baby Lock says not to use extension cords.
