Baby Lock Allegro Quilting and Sewing Machine

The Baby Lock Allegro is a computerized quilting and sewing machine with 12 inches of space to the right of the needle, so a rolled quilt has room to move while you stitch. It sews up to 1,000 stitches per minute, cuts threads at the push of a button, and gives you 200 built-in stitches and 2 alphabets for piecing, quilting, garments and quilt labels.
Why buy from Imagine Sewing & Vacuum
- Authorized Baby Lock dealer. Only authorized retailers can issue Baby Lock warranties, so your Allegro is covered by Baby Lock's 25-year limited warranty.
- Sewing specialists since 1922. We've helped sewists and quilters choose the right machine for more than a century.
- Factory-trained technicians. The people who service Baby Lock machines can help with threading, tension and quilting setup questions, before and after you buy.
- Free shipping on orders over $299. This machine qualifies.
Room to quilt, with computerized controls
- Room for big quilts. 12 inches of space to the right of the needle gives a rolled queen- or king-size quilt room to move, so you fight the fabric less.
- Fast straight-line quilting. Up to 1,000 stitches per minute moves you through long seams and grids, and the speed slide sets a slower top speed for curves and detail.
- Both hands stay on the quilt. The knee lifter raises the presser foot hands-free, and programmable needle up/down stops the needle in the fabric for pivoting, chain piecing and appliqué.
- One-touch buttons. Start/stop, reverse, reinforcement stitch, needle up/down and the automatic thread cutter are each a single press, and start/stop lets you sew without the foot pedal.
- Accurate piecing. The included straight stitch needle plate and foot help with precise seams and fine fabrics, and the 1/4" quilting foot keeps seam allowances even.
- Ready for free-motion. Drop the feed dogs and attach the included free-motion/darning foot to quilt in any direction.
- More than a quilting machine. 200 stitches include 56 utility stitches with 11 one-step buttonhole styles, 144 decorative stitches and 2 alphabets, with mirror image.
Is the Allegro right for you?
It's the best fit if you quilt large projects and want computerized controls, an automatic thread cutter and speed control along with a 12-inch work space. It also handles garments and home decor.
Good to know before you buy: the Allegro doesn't include a walking foot, so plan to add one for straight-line quilting through thick layers. It has manual thread tension and no stitch regulation, and its maximum stitch width is 7 mm. It has a standard built-in needle threader rather than Baby Lock's advanced threader, and it doesn't embroider.
- Want the same 12-inch space for less? The Baby Lock Jazz II has 28 stitches on a dial and a manual thread cutter, with no screen or speed slide.
- Sewing more garments than quilts? The Baby Lock Brilliant has 190 stitches and 14 feet, including a walking foot, with 8.3 inches of space.
- Want computerized basics at a lower price? The Baby Lock Presto 2 has 100 stitches, an automatic thread cutter and speed control, with 8.3 inches of space and no knee lifter.
Expert tip
"Most early tension complaints on the Allegro come down to threading. Raise the presser foot before you thread so the thread seats between the tension discs, then test on a scrap sandwich. Use the included straight stitch needle plate for piecing, but switch back to the standard plate before you choose a zigzag, decorative or buttonhole stitch so the needle can't strike the plate."

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the Baby Lock Allegro and the Jazz II?
Both have 12 inches of space, 1,000 stitches per minute, a knee lifter and six LED lights. The Allegro adds an LCD screen, 200 stitches instead of 28, an automatic thread cutter, a speed slide, a start/stop button and a straight stitch needle plate. The Jazz II uses a dial and costs less.
Does the Allegro come with a walking foot?
No. It includes nine snap-on feet and a free-motion/darning foot. Baby Lock lists its walking foot as a compatible accessory, along with its low-shank ruler feet.
Is the Allegro computerized?
Yes. You choose stitches, adjust width and length, and set mirror image from the LCD screen and control panel.
Does the Allegro have stitch regulation or automatic tension?
No. Tension is set manually, and in free-motion quilting your stitch length depends on how fast you move the quilt compared with the machine's speed. Setting a steady top speed with the speed slide helps you keep a consistent rhythm.
Can I use the Allegro on a quilting frame?
Possibly. The start/stop button lets the machine sew without the foot pedal, but fit depends on the frame, so check your frame maker's compatibility list or ask us before you order.
