The Miele TU HyClean Air Performance Pack puts 16 genuine Type TU FilterBags and an SF-HA 50 HEPA AirClean filter in one box. It fits every Miele Guard L1 and Guard S1 canister vacuum, including the Guard L1 Cat & Dog, AllFloor and Electro. Miele rates the average bag at about three months of use, so the bags can last several years of typical cleaning.

The HEPA filter replaces the 50-series cartridge filter in your Guard L1, such as the Active AirClean filter on the Cat & Dog. Use only one exhaust filter at a time. If pet odor matters more to you than fine dust, keep the SF-AA 50 Active AirClean in place and store the HEPA filter for later.

When to change the bags and filter

• Bag: change it when the bag-change indicator lights up. To check it, run the vacuum on the highest setting with the floorhead lifted off the floor.
• Pet homes: hair and lint can pack a bag full before the indicator reacts, so check the bag more often.
• HEPA filter: replace it about once a year, or when the filter indicator lights up after roughly 50 hours of use.
• Motor protection filter: the Guard L1's lifetime motor protection filter doesn't need replacing.

"Put the HEPA filter in when you open the pack and write the date on it, so you know when the year is up. With pets, check the bag every few weeks, because hair fills it tight before the light comes on and an overfull bag means weaker suction at the brush."

Frequently asked questions

Will this pack fit a Miele Guard M1?

No. The Guard M1 uses Type CO bags. The names are similar, but the bag holders are shaped differently, and a TU bag won't lock into an M1.

Is the HEPA filter the same as the SF-HA 50?

Yes. It's Miele's 50-series HEPA AirClean filter, the same one sold separately as the SF-HA 50, and it fits every Guard L1. The 30-series filters don't fit the Guard L1.

How long will 16 bags last?

Miele estimates about three months per bag for an average household. Homes with pets or heavy carpet use go through bags faster, so let the indicator be your guide.
